The best ads on ABC’s Lost sendoff were these clever and unexpected 15-second Target spots that were show-themed and directed by Lost’s own Jack Bender. Short and simple, the ads juxtapose elements from the series with Target products. In one, the smoke monster retreats when it comes across a smoke detector. In another, a keyboard that absorbs abuse as numbers are entered (a familiar image for fans) is given a suggested replacement from Target. And in the best one in the series, footage of a wild boar running through the jungle cuts to a bottle of barbecue sauce to suggest a beach cookout.
